Tools to Manage Stress

Tools for stress.

Remember, we write to sort out the mess that’s in our heads. Putting pin to paper creates a visual that will help you take on smaller pieces. Make things easier to understand and accomplish. I hope you find this useful.

Gratitude list: I like doing this on Sunday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Helps remind me that I’m not lost and without.

  • Name 3-5 people who you feel love you.
    • It helps to thank them by name out loud (in your personal space, or better to them directly)
  • List the material things you rely on i.e., Home, water, car, job.
    • Some of the smallest things we take for granted. Yet there are many people who wish to have them.
  • Experiences you have gone through.
    • Good or bad the both have lessons that can be learned from them.

To do list: this I like doing on Mondays, and Thursdays. Helps me stay on track for what I need to accomplish. Revisiting it again towards the end of the week, reminds me to look at the larger goal. Make sure I haven’t fallen off the path.

  • Tip: crossing off your tasks when you’ve completed a goal teaches the brain Personal Gratification. Which a far better achievement then what society more commonly knows, Instant Gratification.

Journaling: this is still a very underused stress tool. I use this all the time, as it’s a place for my thoughts to run free. Safe on a paper that I decide what happens with. Sometimes I’ll revisit the page, sometimes I won’t. It gets burned because its never to come to fruition. That’s what the ancient Egyptians knew, the power of Scribe. Words written from thoughts, pure energy, creates real objects.

Pick from any of the following writing prompts if you are having trouble starting; you can set a timer so that you don’t take forever (it can be overwhelming at times). Or you can write until your hearts content. Either or, just release any thing that has been pint up in your spirit.

*Some of these may seem cliché. But they do help in diving deeper into where our stress comes from.

  1. Angry notes – write to someone who hurt you. Recent or past
    1. Keep it open ended if it can’t be resolved right away
    2. Resolve by taking back ownership of your power.
  2. Write a letter to your younger self. Pick any age you like. How do they feel? Can you help? If they’re in a happy or playful mood can you join in?
    1. Looking + knowing that’s you, what advise would you want to give?
  3. Dream Building – if finances were of no importance and you could have anyone there, be anywhere in the world. How would you want to live your life?

Engaging with loved ones; Do it! Even if you don’t want to! Why? Because it breaks up the junk in your mind that tells you your alone. That no one truly loves you. And that just simply isn’t true.

Many of us get caught up in expecting a certain kind of love, and when others don’t measure up, we take it personal. Stop setting expectations on what love can mean.

Indulge in something creative you enjoy doing – it could be anything. An activity that truly brings you happiness. Coloring. Singing or dancing. Write or read. This activates your lower chakras that instill your confidence and sense of stability.

Go outside and enjoy the elements – This really helped me with the Corona shut down. I’m fortunate to have a patio on my apartment. None the less I would still take my daughter and her neighbor friend on a little walk around the complex each day.

Being able to feel the ground under you, feel you body activating. Feel the sun and wind, it all adds to your stronger sense being a real person. Stress is majority about the higher chakras, but we must bring awareness back to the lower side (see my free chakra guide). Remember you are part of the elements, and you can always learn from them to understand yourself.

Wind – release, carries to and away.

Earth – strong, foundation, true. *if you are really stressing sit in the grass, the earth absorbs negative ions you omit.

Water – transforms, brings about new life, cleanses

Fire/Heat – kills away what not needed. Starts the foundation for something stronger.
